The Jaz Mirabel Beach, is a luxurious hotel, set in tastefully landscaped gardens. The sun shines, the pools bekon and the sun beds tease the holidaymaker into lazing an extra hour in paradise. Thomson advertise this hotel as "Platinum" but once the holidaymaker is cosited in its five star luxury, the illusion comes to an end.
Meal times are like a trip to the January sales. The restaraunt is woefully understaffed with no hint of management. Italians, Germans, French Polish and Brits alike tremble in fear; because this hotel is ruled by the Russians. The experience is so bad that even when you've coerced a poorly trained waiter into clearing and re-setting a table, there is no guarantee you will last long enough to eat at it. The Hotel is All Inclusive, but it is to no avail, because "Cutlery and Cups" are the currency of power.
Both commodities are so scarce, that to find a full set on your table has longer odds than winning the lottery twice - in succsessive draws. This is not 5 star standard. Whether we were just unlucky, or if this is a trend at five star hotels in Sharm, I don't know, but the majority of Russian guests were oafish examples making Borat look charming. They swaggered around the hotel with their "gilfriends" in tow. They would take drinks, food and cutlery from your table, or even when your drinks had been delivered just sit at it. But it didn't stop there, whole trays of food would be taken from the buffet. So widespread and blatent was this practice, that it formed a lurid form of entertainment, to see just what would be taken next. But, it wasn't easy for the waiters, because more food was left uneaten on their tables than most families would eat in a week.
Everybody was embaresed by these guests, everybody complained; but well rehearsed answers from the manager, implied "control" was already lost. I understand that my money is no better than anyone elses; but please, Thomson, First Choice and Portland, if this is an example of how the clientele behave, then this is NOT five star standard.
