Police said Friday they have arrested the manager and three other staff of a bar in Tokyo that was hiring women survivors of the March earthquake and tsunami as prostitutes.
One of the employees, 39, was a woman from Sendai, who had come to Tokyo to work and save money for the reconstruction of her house, which was destroyed by the tsunami. The woman told police that she finally found a job opening for a bar in Tokyo after she unsuccessfully tried finding work in Miyagi Prefecture.
She was planning to go back to Sendai after saving approximately , yen. According to police, the bar had 15 women, who had come to Tokyo from the Tohoku area, performing sexual services for clients solicited by bar staff from around the station. We've made a "drinking map" for you so that you can easily find pubs even when you are hammered. Guess that is "sexy" and is thus the name of such an establishment. Pretty sick, IMHO. Well, the question of prostitution aside, the title seems to imply that hiring prostitutes is okay, but hiring prostitutes from Sendai is a no-no.
This seems odd. There wass no shortage of pink business in Tohoku and it is an obvious assumption that many women would choose to continue their vocation elsewhere. What a weird article. Like Suma beach in Kobe banning tattoos because one guy with tattoos was caught with drugs. Sometimes the upper echelon here are hard to figure out. Why were Tohoku women working there anyway? Were they dissatisfied with life in an evacuation centre?
They were trying to rebuild their lives as quickly as possible. There are not many job openings available to them. Perhaps, their family breadwinner is no longer alive. Did the police kindly offer them free accomodation or was that offer only made to the manager, who was probably paid to stand in as a fall guy for the real owner?
